The honorable Representative John Lowery
Arkansas State Legislature, District 6

Dear Sir,

I am writing to enquire into an unusual event, now two years old, that has recently come to my attention.

Nestled within an hour-long YouTube video uploaded February 21, 2012 by the Hatfield Assembly of God Church, there is an incredible story about you, as told by an itinerant holy man who calls himself “Rabbi” Curt Landry.  Apparently he is trawling the churches of America’s backwater hamlets, spinning fantastical tales of how he is Israel’s “goodwill ambassador” and boasting that he is capable of bending even Mammon to the service of Jesus Christ during these last days.  I’m not exactly sure how he does it, but it is clear he has convinced the good people of rural Arkansas that he is a legitimate “prophet” who is “extensively operating in the gifts of healing, signs and wonders.”

In this three-minute section of the aforementioned video, beginning at 24:04 and ending at 27:02, Landry recounts how, two years ago, at the once-baptist Cross Life Church (formerly Second Baptist Church) in Eldorado, you and he were able to use magic incantations and talismans like a “tallit” to remove an atmospheric curse placed upon the state in 1948, when it supposedly voted against the creation of Israel.  Can you please elaborate as to just what dastardly thing it was that Arkansas did 64 years ago that then incurred God’s wrath upon our state?  Even if such an improbable extended weather event were true, I was not aware that individual states were involved in the process of recognizing foreign nations.

This amazing curse, more than three-score years old, has clearly spared a fortunate few in the Razorback State.  A bit of Internet research reveals that “Lowery Oil CO in El Dorado, AR is a private company which is listed under oil crude. Current estimates show this company has an annual revenue of $2.5 to 5 million and employs a staff of 1 to 4.”  Not bad!  Not bad at all.  It seems that you have been richly blessed, and that you are an exemplar for the very fashionable “I got mine!” Prosperity Gospel now being peddled everywhere in the name of a relentlessly re-branded Jesus (hardly recognizable as the penniless Nazarene who once wandered the hills of Palestine two thousand years ago).

Congratulations on your earthly blessings.  I trust your heavenly larder is equally as well-stocked.  And, I look forward to reading your explanation of just what it was that you and the self-proclaimed rabbi accomplished for the state of Arkansas two years ago.

Sincerely,

[Monsieur d’Nalgar]
Hot Springs, Arkansas

    [Jacques],
You hit this one not only out of the ballpark but I think out of the city! May I share this with Max Brantley of the Arkansas Times?

  1. Of course. And remind Max that he was going to publish my rant against the constitutionalists…

    Outstanding letter.

  2. You are too kind. I am under the influence of blood pressure medications and only 75% responsible for what I write…

I’d hate to see you 100% responsible then!

Hello, I would kindly ask you to take down my video that you re-uploaded as it is an original creation by me. I respect your right to your beliefs. I do not want to infringe on that in any way and would ask you to please do the same for me. Try to create something original to get your message across better. Thanks!

    Pastor at Hatfield AG:

As the former legal counsel for the Arkansas District of the AG, I must advise you that when you consort with the likes of the folks shown on this video, and then post such publicly, you are subjecting yourself to derision and ridicule from dissenting views.

IF you can show me the basis for Rabbi Curt Landry’s and/or the ex-Representative’s claim that Arkansas has anything whatsoever to do with “approving” the State of Israel, I think others would benefit from such historical revisionism.

In the meantime, if you insist on promoting such views, then you rightly suffer the consequences.

    Cliff Jackson
